Part 1: Wedding Dress Design & Intro

Dresses, Handmade Wardrobe, Wedding Dress

I knew when we got engaged that I would make my wedding dress. I have been tackling clothing projects since February 2018, but had no couture experience whatsoever! And we got engaged in June, so I had a short deadline! But I very much enjoy a challenge! And I was confident enough in my skills […]

My style had been pure cozy for the last few month My style had been pure cozy for the last few months! And my #SaraceniaSweater still fits!

Approaching 32 weeks and I'm actually feeling like I have more energy than the 2nd trimester. But it may just be the excitement of this upcoming pattern release! I'm hoping for next week!

This sweatshirt fabric is a bamboo/cotton blend from @stonemountainfabric and it's magic.
You may notice a big change around here! As I prep You may notice a big change around here! As I prepare for the release of my first pattern, I am updating this to my new company, Pattern Botany.

I will be moving my personal account back to @ stephloveshandmade But it looks like it's not available yet!? Try back in a few weeks!

Since there are so many new people, I thought I'd let you know a little about me (and it gives a bit of insight into this name).

I always thought I would become an artist of some sort. For a long time I thought I would be a painter. I went to college to get a BFA in fine art, and about 3 years into it I had doubts and questioned the practical aspects of it. (I was so idealist as a child!) So I did what college students do when they don't know what they're doing with their life- they travel. I spent most of the year in New Zealand on a not-yet-so-sustainable permaculture farm (=commune) and fell in love with ecology. So when I got back, I finished with a major in biology and then went on to get a PhD in Botany.

For a variety of reasons (too many in fact) I did not go on to pursue it, but instead took a gamble on going full time with my etsy business (@juniperandlace) that I had started a few years before. In a way it felt like the pendulum was swinging back to art. And it has been my source of income for the last 5 years! I get to create, make, sew every day and it's very fulfilling.

That brings me to my upcoming pattern release. I love to sew very much! Finding the world of indie sewing patterns has truly brightened my world. I've wanted to create my own patterns since I started sewing clothes. But I'm the opposite of impulsive, so I'm glad it's finally happening!

I can't even say how happy this last week has made me while starting the testing process. It's scary to put everything out there, so I am grateful that people wanted to test my first pattern and have ALSO enjoyed sewing it!

I hope to release the #SaraceniaSweater in the next couple of weeks! I love the sewing community and am blown away by the response. Thank you to everyone who has been involved!

I did it! I blogged, and it's published. It's bee I did it! I blogged, and it's published. It's been a while, but I wrote about this awesome #KellyAnorak jacket in @merchantandmills dry oilskin, and all my adjustments.

This was one of my proudest makes!
I took my time to muslin, adjust, and then sew this jacket, but so worth it.

I'd love to make one with the collar option one day!
